Wedding season is in full swing and Zach and I feel as busy as a bride and groom. After making the pies, we had wedding duties the following weekend on July 3rd. Zach was the officiant and I was the cake decorator. We had a blast!

You all know wedding cake, but our friends wanted pie. Who dares to tell a bride no, not us! Hence wedding pies. We made 20 of them for the wedding on June 26, 2011.
Flavors were strawberry, strawberry rhubarb, blueberry, apple rhubarb with carmel glaze and the wedding pie - mixed berry rhubarb. Our advice, bring pie to a wedding, it makes you an instant celebrity!
With the Volvo wagon transportation was a breeze.
Going up hill with Zach far in the lead while I was walking up the hill and munching a granola bar.
Zach and I both had long weekends this past weekend, so we took off for the Trapper Creek and Talkeetna areas to do some fat tire biking and cross country skiing. We tried out the snowmachine trails around Trapper Creek on Sunday and learned that fat tire biking is fun but hard work. While on biking the road its not much different than regular biking on pavement, but once there's any softness to the trail, it's a lot of pushing. I think I walked at least 1/3 of the time we were on the first trail. Later we were pointed to a harder trail and I wish we would have started there as we didn't go far before we were both beat.
Dinner at our house is either a production and much involved endeavor or something that has to be done before moving on to other things. I decided to take a middling approach and make an ordinary dinner of Portuguese sausage and kale into something a little more special by setting the mood and having us eat at the table instead of at the counter area we usually eat at on bar stools. It was nice to be at the table which I have done up for valentine's day and just take more time for dinner. Sorry the picture quality's not great, but the mood lighting and candles make for less than perfect pics.
Whilst sewing for future baby this evening, it dawned on me that I have failed to ever sew anything for my husband. Over the holidays most family members got something either hand sewn or at least machine sewn and I owe Zach a shirt, but for now, at least he has something.
I was piecing together this bowling themed material for one of the baby projects I'm working on and thought it would make a nice little handkerchief, especially since I could hear Zach sniffling while I was sewing. Plus, its a little something he can carry with him on his upcoming travels to remind him of me. It's certainly not perfect, but then he won't have to hesitate to snot all over it. That is the purpose of the hanky after all.
I can order these as a reward if this diet works from here.
